One of the greatest things about motorcycles travel is how many people you meet along the way. Today, Washington weather allowed us just enough time to load up our panniers before the “rain” gods turned the spigot on. So, I quickly duck into the hotel awning to shelter from the rain.
I see a small kid nearby and I asked him; “Hey kid, does it ever stop raining around here?” The kid looks up at me and says, “How the hell should I know, I’m only 6 years old Mister?”

And before you know it, we declared it, time for a second breakfast. So the entire group of nine riders ducks back into Charlies Diner to eat a second breakfast.
When we came out it was still raining but, not nearly as hard. Then we start riding towards Mt Rainier National park in two separate groups.
The ride up was truly short of spectacular. On day one of the Olympic peninsula ride today we probably experienced every time of weather there is.
“One day, it started raining, and it didn’t quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stinging rain, big ol’ fat rain… Rain that flew in sideways,”. Forrest Gump
