This year, like a farmer, I am able to through grandkids clearly see the young seedlings sprouting, and of the old dead wood passing. As callous as it may now sound, this is just one factor of life itself. In the span of one year two Uncles that easily surpassed the median old age are now gone.
At the now ongoing Baja haha XXII party; while waiting for our shuttle back to Ensenada, we find the median cruising age considerably higher. Our now friend (age 75) on a Mariner 36 sailboat just told us of an 80 year old that wrapped a fishing line on his prop. No panic or call for aid, he just broke down to his skivies, dove down and cut the line.
We ‘re glad to be here and are welcoming in this new phase of life. Long live cruisers and what they represent.
Thank you Lats 38 for getting this party and group started on our way. If you don’t yet know we depart Ensenada tomorrow after say 2 .p.m for a 40 steaming to Turtle Bay, Baja.
At the send of costume party.
